High Quality Hydraulic Headbox for Paper Forming Section in Paper Mill
The headbox is a key part of a modern paper machine. Its structure and properties play a decisive role in the formation of paper sheets and the quality of paper.
Hydraulic Headbox Function:
1. Can effectively disperse fibers. The high-turbulence headbox can generate high-intensity micro-turbulence, which can effectively disperse fibers, prevent fiber sedimentation and re-flocculation, and effectively improve the strength of paper sheets.
2. Distribute the stock evenly across the paper machine. (Determines the lateral quantitative distribution of the paper web)
3. The spraying is stable to ensure that the speed of the slurry is coordinated with the speed of the net. (Determines the longitudinal quantitative distribution of the paper web)
Headbox Types:
Normally the headbox is categorized into three types such as open type, air pad type, and hydraulic type.
Among them, the hydraulic headbox is designed for a high-speed modern paper machine (above 300 m/min) whereas open headbox is used in low-speed paper machine. In hydraulic and air cushion headbbox , the discharge velocity from the slice depends directly on the feeding pump. For this reason, they are commonly known as a pressurized headbox. The hydraulic headbox has no air pad, it is fully enclosed.
In case of an air cushion headbox a pond level is maintained. Above the level it contains pressurized air. The stock level is known as head, which is controlled by air pressure. The head determines the slice jet speed. It contains two or three Rectifier roll.
Moreover multi-layer hydraulic headbox is available which is designed for making tissue paper and lightweight containerboard. Each layer has different furnish compositions and delivery systems.
